KSAO
#2. Ability to manage plan and direct
and coordinate office activities
For over
20 years as a
Rotational Chief, three (3) years as the Assistant
Branch Chief and more recently as the Acting Branch Chief,
I pride myself on demonstrating the leadership qualities that are necessary
to manage plan and direct and coordinate
office activities. On a daily
basis, I am called upon to direct and coordinate the activities of the TWX
Branch. Without hesitation,
I face a myriad of operational and administrative challenges ranging from
personnel/critical staffing issues to resource allocation (both equipment
and human) and customer service issues.
This required that I successfully mentor and develop future
leaders; eliminate and/or re-train ineffective performers and build a cohesive
team to meet the mission of the
organization. This is exemplified
time and again as I am consistently assigned the teams toughest
challenges.
Recently, not only, did I
demonstrate the prowess to develop and implement, transitional strategies
and long-range goals/targets, I artfully navigate operational roadblocks,
constraints and inefficiency that were identified as my team transitioned
to my leadership and was faced with my significantly increased performance
challenges, targets and goals.
Because I understand the value of our human resources, not technology,
as the single most important force behind our operational success, I was
able to win the support and respect of the team.
I also understand that budgets
are the foundation of most control systems, as I have worked diligently to
implement and utilize new management tools as yardsticks for measuring
performance and for analytical purposes all aimed at eliminating cost overruns
and improving efficiency. Over
the years, through demonstrated willingness to pitch in and help out with
various facets of programs that required attention to detail and the
coordination/processing of paperwork, I gained expert knowledge of what it
takes to manage, lead and oversee an diverse myriad of passport/citizenship
services office policy and procedures through hard work and participation
on the following task forces:
Gulf
War - dealt with
persons whose family members, relatives and friends were trapped in Kuwait
during the invasion
Served
as part of the Sierra Leone Task Force, which provided relief to American
citizens in Freetown and their families in the U.S.
Provided
task force support and technical advisory services to team support initiatives
in Mexico, Haiti, the Philippines and other areas of the
world
